Shelly Aggarwal (42) was a teacher but quit her job to offer her entire attention to her son Bhavesh Aggarwal who is studying in Class VI at Apeejay School, Model Town, in Jalandhar. Her husband Bharat Bhushan is a businessman. She tells us why she is in awe of Apeejay School. Read on.
Please tell a little about your child?
Bhavesh is 11 years old and a versatile child. He is an active participant not only in academics but co-curricular activities held in school. There is not even a single competition in which he has not participated. You name it and he is there. His focus is not just on winning but on exploring and learning new things during the participation. He cherishes this experience of getting himself enrolled, preparing himself for the competition and giving his best. Among the activities he has participated are an essay writing competition, dance, Hindi Sahitya, Science Olympiad etc. Teachers at Apeejay know him as a brilliant student.
How did you come to know about Apeejay School?
As I was a teacher in a renowned private school, I knew about Apeejay. It has a great reputation and is one of the best schools in Jalandhar. Most of the children in my friends circle are studying at Apeejay. So, we got recommendations via word of mouth. Also, after visiting the school, we felt that our only son must study at Apeejay. It has the best infrastructure; the teachers are experienced and approachable, the management is great and the location just perfect.
It’s been a long association with Apeejay, what do you find special in the school?
They recognise our child and they know the potential of our child. The management and the teachers are aware of the potential of each and every child, which is quite commendable. They then try to nourish and polish that skill set. The individual attention given to each child is unlike most other schools.
Any progress you have noticed in your child?
Bhavesh was in the first batch of Rhythms Kinderworld then he shifted to Apeejay Model Town. I have seen him progressing not only in academics but in other activities as well. We have seen the holistic development in him. Values are imbibed in him. He feeds stray dogs, he helps others. He was an introverted child but with his active participation in all the competitions and activities, it made him a confident boy. At this young age, he knows his responsibility and I am sure this value-based education will help him become a better citizen of the country.
Does Apeejay have a balanced approach on academics and extracurricular activities?
Yes, the teachers make sure that each child gets groomed and develops personality traits and skill sets while getting the education. I am amazed that the school continued to engage students in eclectic activities even during their vacations. The teachers are so involved with the school that they give their 200 % to the students.
The school management gives importance to the parents as well. They make us feel like part of their family.
