Recently, Cyclothon 4.0 was organised at Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, in collaboration with the District Administration and the District Olympic Association. Held under the theme Yudh Nashiyan Virudh, the event focused on spreading awareness about substance abuse while encouraging fitness and community participation.
The initiative reflected the institution’s continued effort to connect education with social responsibility. It also carried forward the vision of Dr Stya Paul, Founder-Chairman, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group, whose emphasis on discipline and service remains central to the school’s approach. Under the leadership of Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education, the institution continues to promote balanced development through academic and co-curricular engagement.
The programme began with a warm-up session led by Rajan Syal from Parindey Dance Academy. This was followed by the arrival of the Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar, Mr Varjeet Walia, who was welcomed with a green gesture. The school Principal, Dr Rajesh Chandel, addressed the gathering and set the context for the event. The Deputy Commissioner later administered an anti-drug oath, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility.
Cycling events were conducted in stages, beginning with the 21 km category, followed by 10 km and 5 km races. Participants from different age groups took part, creating a steady and organised flow across the routes. The Deputy Commissioner also joined the cycling activity, encouraging participants through his presence.






The prestigious event was graced by eminent dignitaries including, Shrimati Divya P (ADC), Shri Tejdeep Saini (ADC), Shri Jayant Puri (ADCP), Shri Ashok Meena (ADCP), Shri Navdeep Singh (SDM), Shrimati Shayari Malhotra (SDM), Shrimati Asha Ji (ACG), S Sarvjit Singh Samra, Mr Piyush Sood, and S Paramjit Singh Sachdeva.
The event also saw participation from several cycling groups across the region, along with support from institutions and sponsors such as the District Olympic Association, Red Cross Society, and various banking and healthcare partners.
Specially-abled students from PRAYAS and Deaf and Dumb institutions also took part in a one-kilometre walk, adding a strong message of inclusion.
Cyclothon 4.0 underlined the role of collective action in addressing social concerns and highlighted how youth-led participation can contribute to a healthier and more aware society. The programme concluded with a Press interaction, a felicitation ceremony, and the National Anthem.
