Poonam Sharma’s sons Pulkit and Kartik are studying in classes 4 and 2 respectively in Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri. In an interview, the mother-of-two and homemaker appreciates the dedication of the teachers and how they give personal attention to the students and parents. Edited excerpts:

What made you choose Apeejay Charkhi Dadri for Pulkit and Kartik?

Apeejay Charkhi Dadri is one of the top English medium schools in the area. The school develops children’s English speaking, reading, and writing skills well. So, our friends and relatives suggested Apeejay for Pulkit. We are quite satisfied with his progress and chose to enroll Kartik too.

Can you elaborate on some of the aspects that make Apeejay a good learning institution?

The teachers are very cooperative. They pay attention to detail and know all parents personally. In case there is an issue with any child, they always make sure to speak to his or her parents about it. The overall environment is good.

Do your kids participate in extra-curricular activities?

Yes, the teachers keep organising various extra-curricular activities for the children. They are given a lot of exposure beyond academics, which is what you need to help them grow up to be well-rounded individuals. The teachers encourage students to participate in all kinds of activities. Kartik, who was initially enrolled in another school in nursery, is gradually adapting to Apeejay’s environment. I am hoping to see him interact more and take part in such programmes. Pulkit, on the other hand, is quite actively involved.

What do you think of the curriculum? Is there any burden on the students?

There is no burden. The children are made to take revision tests after every chapter taught in class which is a good practice to help them prepare the lessons. Pulkit ensures all his doubts are cleared before moving on to the next topic; Kartik is also working on the same. They have an age-appropriate syllabus.

What kind of relationship do you share with the teachers?

Teachers are always available to listen to our concerns. They allot time to the parents to speak to them about whatever issues they have. I have frequent interactions with the teachers and have developed a good rapport with them.
