On July 8, Apeejay School, Nerul, hosted Kala Utsav 2026, turning the school campus into a space for music, dance, theatre and visual art. The cultural symposium was dedicated to the legacy of Shrimati Rajeshwari Paul, ‘first lady’ of the Apeejay Stya Group.
Her belief in holistic education, human values and the arts shaped the spirit of the programme. The event was attended by the school Principal Mr P Subhash, Vice-principal Ms Preeti Gupta and Pre-primary Coordinator, Ms Mrinalini Singh, along with guests, parents and students.
The programme began with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. It marked the start of the celebration and reflected the idea of knowledge guiding young minds. Student anchors then presented a tribute to Shrimati Rajeshwari Paul, recalling her grace, quiet strength and faith in the creative potential of every child.
Music sets the tone
The cultural performances opened with a musical presentation by the school’s vocalists and instrumentalists. The students performed with coordination and confidence. Their presentation showed how music can bring different voices and sounds together into one shared expression.

The highlight of the event was a dance-drama based on the theme Woman and Nature. The production used prose, poetry and choreography to explore the connection between a mother’s strength and the resilience of the natural world.
A journey through five movements
The performance unfolded through five thematic movements. Genesis introduced the nurturing spaces created by a mother and by nature. Adversity showed a child and a sapling facing the changing seasons of life.
The Tempest brought a shift in mood and energy. It portrayed love becoming fierce when protection was needed. The final movements, Restoration and Abundance, showed how care, patience and support can help life grow and flourish.

Creativity beyond the stage
The school corridors also hosted an art gallery featuring paintings, sketches and sculptures created by students. Parents and dignitaries appreciated the time, effort and imagination reflected in the exhibits.
Kala Utsav 2026 ended with a wider message about the place of art in everyday life. The event reminded students that creativity is not limited to a stage or canvas. It can also be seen in kindness, empathy and the courage to follow a sincere dream.
