A thoughtfully designed workshop, ‘Beyond Integration: Strengthening Art in Learning,’ was organised at Apeejay School, Noida. The aim was to encourage teachers to meaningfully integrate art into classroom pedagogy. Conducted by Ms. Shubhangi Tyagi, Founder of Creative Learning Associates and a National Award-winning artist, the workshop aligned with the educational vision outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, emphasising experiential and child-centric learning.

The programme commenced with a warm and eco-friendly welcome extended to the resource person by Preparatory Years’ Incharge Ms. Apurva Gupta and Foundational Years’ Incharge Ms. Kavita Luthra, setting a positive and engaging tone for the session.

The workshop encouraged educators to perceive art not merely as an aesthetic or decorative activity, but as an effective medium for thinking, learning, and meaningful classroom engagement. Through interactive exercises and experiential tasks, participants explored how art can become a powerful tool to stimulate curiosity, creativity, and deeper learning among students.

The session began with an engaging activity titled ‘Observe Before You Learn’, where teachers observed ordinary objects through a child’s perspective. The exercise prompted participants to reflect freely on the many learning possibilities hidden within everyday experiences. This was followed by a reflective discussion focusing on key aspects of effective learning such as observation, curiosity, collaboration, engagement, and connection.

A major highlight of the workshop was the ‘Big Questions’ activity, which underscored the significance of inquiry-based learning. Teachers explored the idea of beginning lessons with thought-provoking and open-ended questions that encourage students to think critically, ask questions, and engage more actively with concepts.

Participants also took part in collaborative group activities aimed at designing meaningful art-integrated learning experiences across various subjects. The task encouraged teachers to incorporate elements such as observation, inquiry, student participation, creative expression, and real-world relevance into classroom instruction.

During the presentation segment, teachers enthusiastically shared their interdisciplinary ideas, inquiry-based approaches, and learning strategies designed to make classroom experiences more engaging and student-focused.

The workshop concluded with doodle reflections, allowing participants to creatively express their learning through colours, words, symbols, and sketches. A reflective sharing session followed, during which teachers discussed key insights and practical approaches they could implement in classrooms.

The workshop proved highly enriching, equipping teachers with innovative ideas and practical strategies to make learning more engaging, experiential, and meaningful for young learners.
