She is a sincere and friendly student who loves learning and trying new things. Her hobbies include dancing, gardening, drawing, and spending time with her family. She also enjoys helping others because it makes her feel happy and peaceful. Meet Manika Shukla, a Class X student at Apeejay School, Greater Noida.
In a candid interview, she talks about an experience where she consciously applied integrity and compassion, among other things.
What does receiving the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values mean to you personally?
It’s not just a prize; it’s a reminder to always stay honest, kind, and respectful. It shows that good values are as important as good marks. This award inspires me to follow Dr Stya Paul’s belief that true education comes from living with values every day.
An experience where you consciously applied the values of integrity and compassion?
During a group project, a friend fell ill and missed several days of school, leaving her part incomplete. Worried, I visited her home after school, helped her finish the work, and explained the missed lessons. I did it out of genuine care, not for praise. Later, I ensured she received full credit for her contribution—that was integrity. Her gratitude made me realise how small acts of kindness and honesty strengthen friendship and make teamwork meaningful.

How has Apeejay School helped you imbibe and practice human values?
Apeejay School has taught me that education is not only about marks but also about being a good person. Our teachers guide us to be kind, respectful, and honest. Through morning assemblies, stories, and school activities, we learn to help others and practice human values in real life. Even the school motto, Soaring High is My Nature, has encouraged me to take every step in life confidently.
Why is it important to uphold human values among students in today’s world?
Today’s world is full of competition. Human values help us stay kind, honest, and balanced. If students learn to care for others, respect everyone, and stay truthful, our future will be brighter and more peaceful. Values make us not just successful, but also good human beings.
What message would you like to share with your peers about living by Dr Stya Paul’s ideals?
I want to set an example and be an inspiration for my classmates by practising what I believe in. I want to remind my friends that marks and success are important, but values are equally important. We should always be kind, honest, and helpful.
