Recently, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, organised an Inter-house English Debate Competition for the Middle Wing, creating an engaging platform for students to strengthen their confidence, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Students from all four houses, namely Gautam, Kabir, Nanak, and Vivekananda, participated enthusiastically in the event. The competition brought together young speakers who articulated their views on the given motion with conviction, logic, and clarity. Through thoughtful arguments and rebuttals, the participants demonstrated their ability to analyse different perspectives and express their opinions respectfully.
The event was marked by energetic participation and impressive performances. Each speaker displayed well-researched content, effective voice modulation, confident delivery, and a strong stage presence. Their original ideas and command over the English language kept the audience engaged throughout the competition. The debate also encouraged students to listen carefully, respond thoughtfully, and appreciate viewpoints that differed from their own.

The participants were evaluated on parameters including content, expression, fluency, confidence, and rebuttal skills. Following a keen and impartial assessment, Priyanshi of Class VII from Gautam House secured the first position. Bharat Phogat of Class VII, also from Gautam House, won the second position. The third position was jointly awarded to Myra Bansal of Class VII and Drishti of Class VII from Kabir House.
The Principal of the school, Dr Vineet Vasishtha, congratulated all the participants for their commendable efforts and appreciated the confidence, preparation, and enthusiasm displayed by the young debaters. Addressing the students, he highlighted the importance of debates in developing analytical thinking, effective communication, leadership, and decision-making abilities. He encouraged students to remain well-informed, think independently, and present their ideas with confidence while respecting differing opinions.
“Debates are among the most effective learning experiences, as they encourage students to think critically, analyse different perspectives, and express their ideas with confidence and conviction. I congratulate all the participants for their excellent performances and the winners for their remarkable achievement. Every participant deserves appreciation for the effort and dedication displayed. I encourage our students to continue reading, questioning, and communicating effectively, as these skills are essential for academic excellence and responsible leadership in the future,” Dr Vasistha shared.

He also distributed certificates to the winners and applauded every participant for demonstrating courage, determination, and sportsmanship. He appreciated the teachers for planning and conducting the event successfully, ensuring that students received a meaningful and enriching learning experience.
The Inter-house English Debate Competition concluded on an inspiring note, reinforcing the value of literary activities in nurturing articulate speakers, thoughtful learners, and responsible global citizens. Such initiatives continue to provide students with opportunities to discover their voice, sharpen their reasoning, and develop a lifelong love for learning.
