Safety and preparedness took centre stage at Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, Sector 21-D, as the school conducted a disaster management drill focusing on earthquake evacuation and fire safety. The initiative aimed to equip the school community with the knowledge and practical skills required to respond calmly, confidently and responsibly during unforeseen emergencies.

The drill witnessed the active participation of students, teachers, non-teaching staff, security guards and support staff, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring a safe school environment. Participants were guided on the essential precautions to be observed during an earthquake or fire emergency, with an emphasis on remaining alert, following instructions and responding without panic.

As part of the exercise, students practised evacuating their classrooms in an orderly and disciplined manner. They followed the designated evacuation routes and proceeded towards the designated assembly area, where they gathered at a safe location. The exercise familiarised students with the evacuation process and reinforced the importance of knowing emergency exits and adhering to established safety procedures.

Teachers and staff members coordinated the movement of students, ensuring that the evacuation was carried out systematically. Security guards and support staff also played a significant role in maintaining order and assisting with the process. Their coordinated efforts demonstrated how teamwork and clear communication are essential to managing emergencies effectively.

Beyond the practical exercise, the drill served as an important reminder that preparedness begins with awareness and regular practice. It reinforced key lessons such as staying calm under pressure, listening carefully to instructions, avoiding unnecessary panic and supporting others during challenging situations.

Through this initiative, the school reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a secure and responsible learning environment. The exercise encouraged students and staff members to recognise that disaster preparedness is not merely a procedural requirement but an essential life skill.

The drill concluded with a renewed emphasis on vigilance, cooperation and the shared responsibility of keeping everyone safe.
