‘Watching my son open up has been the biggest joy’

Every parent wants the best for their child, especially when it comes to education. This parent, too, visited several schools before choosing Apeejay School, Greater Noida. “When I looked at the other schools, many had large classes, and I felt it could be difficult for one teacher to give every child enough attention. Here, the classes were less crowded, which appealed to me,” shares Monika Bhati, whose son, Veer Bhati (Class I), is studying here, in an impromptu interview.

How are the teachers here?

After Veer joined Senior KG, I saw how the teachers paid attention to his individual needs. His Senior KG teacher worked with him at his own pace instead of expecting him to learn exactly like the other children. I appreciated that approach.

My experience has been very good, and I have no complaints. I had a good relationship with his teachers last year, and I am equally comfortable speaking with his current teacher. Whenever I need to discuss something, I usually send a WhatsApp message. We talk about the concern and find a solution.

Does he enjoy going to school?

I have never had difficulty getting him to go. My elder son also goes to school, and Veer follows his example. We live in a joint family, so he has grown up watching the other children go to school, too.

What does he enjoy most at school?

He loves sports and enjoys learning through activities. Working in a notebook does not always hold his attention, but he gets excited when a lesson includes something fun. He responds well to activities.

What changes have you noticed since he entered Class 1?

He was already learning to do things for himself, such as keeping his belongings in place. The biggest change I have noticed is in his interaction with other children. Earlier, he was quiet and did not talk much. Now, he has opened up and is more comfortable talking to his classmates.

Can you share a moment when you felt particularly proud of Veer?

At a sports activity, Veer participated in two or three games. In one, the children had to collect their belongings and pack them into a bag. He came second. I had not brought his own bag, so he had to use an unfamiliar one. Children often work faster with things they are used to, and I felt that may have slowed him down. Still, I was proud to see him complete the task himself. Every first achievement feels special as a parent.

How are the teachers helping him adjust to Class I?

His teacher suggested extra classes to support him. Initially, I was concerned about the longer day. I thought he might feel tired or frustrated if he reached home late. However, his teacher felt he needed that support, so I agreed. His studies are important, and I am willing to make the necessary adjustments at home to help him.
