Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, celebrated International Pi Day with great enthusiasm and a series of engaging activities. Observed globally, Pi Day honours the mathematical constant π (Pi), which represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. The 2025 theme, “Math in Everyday Life,” emphasised the significance of mathematics in daily activities and scientific advancements.

To make the celebration interactive and enjoyable, AIMETC organized a Pi-themed Rangoli competition, where students creatively depicted mathematical concepts through colorful designs. This event was not only a tribute to Pi but also an effort to inspire students to appreciate the beauty of mathematics beyond textbooks.

Winners of the Pi Rangoli Competition

The competition saw remarkable participation, and the winners were:

  • First Prize: Kiranjot Kaur, Amisha, and Preeti Verma (MCA Semester 2)
  • Second Prize: Aanchal Bhalla, Gurpreet Jassal, and Ankit Sharma (MCA Semester 2)
  • Third Prize: Nandini, Manmeet, and Sukhman (BCA Semester 2)

The event was judged by Mr. Rohit Verma and Dr. Sheenu Nayyar, who appreciated the students’ creativity, mathematical accuracy, and artistic expression.

Inspiring Words from Leadership

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, commended the students for their enthusiastic participation and highlighted the importance of developing strong mathematical skills. He emphasized that mathematics is not just a subject but a fundamental pillar in various fields such as science, engineering, and technology. He further encouraged students to cultivate a love for the subject and explore its real-world applications.

The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Sheenu Nayyar and Ms. Preet Kamal Kaur, Assistant Professors at the School of Engineering, whose dedication contributed to the smooth execution of the program.

Pi Day at AIMETC was a vibrant and educational celebration that blended fun with learning. Through creative competitions and discussions, students gained a deeper appreciation of mathematics in everyday life. Such initiatives not only make learning enjoyable but also inspire future mathematicians and engineers to embrace the subject with confidence and enthusiasm.
