During my visit to Pangong Lake in Ladakh, I had the opportunity to spend my vacation there and engage in meditation along with yoga. It’s well known that being by the ocean has numerous benefits for our health and mental well-being. The sea helps us de-stress, boosts our immune system, and improves our mood. It’s a great opportunity to escape, relax, and recharge. Reaching Pangong can be challenging due to the decreased oxygen levels, but if you’re fit and have good immunity, you can definitely enjoy it.

One activity that brings immense happiness and inner peace is practicing yoga or meditation by the sea. Pangong is one of the most beautiful places, perfect for such activities. While practicing yoga or meditation by the ocean, I felt a deep connection with nature. We are part of nature, but sometimes we forget this. Observing Mother Nature in all its beauty during yoga or meditation can be a profound experience. You start noticing things like the sound of the waves, the beautiful hues of the water, and the fresh, salty scent of the ocean air. Pangong Lake, with its saline water, added to this sensory experience.

Once you reach a state of zen, your thoughts and emotions become calmer, creating space for intuition and a deeper connection with nature. The sound of the ocean fosters a meditative mood, and breathing in rhythm with the waves delivers oxygen to your body, bringing peace to your day. This improved my overall well-being and led to better sleep. Regular practice of yoga and meditation can help with weight loss and, most importantly, bring happiness. Yoga is a wonderful experience, doing something for yourself, through yourself, improving your life on many levels.

Fitness activities like running, cycling, and gyming, along with meditation and yoga, helped me reach Pangong Lake despite the low oxygen levels. Fitness is crucial, and maintaining your body as a temple ensures a happy, long life. This is my message on International Yoga Day: take care of your body, expand your horizons, and embrace yoga. Exposure to sunlight provides many health benefits as well. I made a video and took pictures at Pangong Lake to share today, June 21st, with my students, friends, and everyone I am connected with. I hope it provides a better perspective on life, self-love, and how to give time to ourselves. Loving yourself is essential because only then can others love you.

On this International Yoga Day, let us celebrate the union of mind, body, and spirit that yoga brings into our lives. Yoga is not just a physical practice but a journey towards self-awareness, inner peace, and holistic well-being. May this day inspire us all to embrace the principles of yoga and cultivate harmony within ourselves and with the world around us. Namaste!!!
