Kirti Pramod Tripathi, a prodigious artist in class 9 at Apeejay School, Nerul, wields her paintbrush like a magic wand while bringing canvases to life. A maestro in both Warli Art and painting, this budding artist’s hands dance effortlessly to the rhythm of her creative spirit. As we dive into this week’s Artist of the Week interview, Kirti graciously shares glimpses of her artistic odyssey, where drawing became not just a hobby but an education preceding her school years.

Read edited excerpts:

Since when did you start drawing?

Drawing was my companion since the days before school even claimed my attention! It has been a passion that nestled in my heart from childhood.

Which art form is your favorite and why?

Acrylic painting steals my heart every time. The multitude of techniques it offers allows me to weave my imagination and creativity into every stroke. It’s a playground for my artistic soul.

How does Apeejay Nerul support you as an artist?

My school is my biggest cheerleader in the realm of art. They don’t just encourage me to participate in various competitions but also nurture my skills and imagination, fostering an environment where my creativity can bloom.

What is your definition of art?

Art, for me, is the eloquent expression of ideas and emotions through a tangible medium like painting or drawing. It’s a bridge that allows us to communicate, sharing our thoughts, experiences, and beliefs visually.

How much time does it take you to complete one artwork? What are the common ideas and themes?

The ticking of the clock varies, usually dancing between 1 to 2 hours. It depends on the painting’s nature. Lately, I’ve been exploring various sceneries and a touch of fairytale magic on my canvas.

Any upcoming artworks?

The upcoming magic on my canvas will unfold through sceneries and perhaps a sprinkle of fairy dust in my paintings.

Is there a new art form you wish to learn?

Realistic painting beckons me; the kind that nearly mirrors a photograph. The allure of capturing reality with strokes of a brush is a skill I aspire to master.

Other hobbies apart from art?

Beyond the strokes and hues, I find solace in the world of books. Reading different genres enriches my vocabulary, hones my critical thinking, and fuels my love for literacy.
