Experts, students discuss various aspects of Sustainable Development Goals

The collaborative effort between Apeejay School of Management and the Department of Business Economics at Maharaja Agrasen College, Delhi University, culminated in an enlightening Panel Discussion and Student Paper Presentation on April 9, 2024. Held at the esteemed campus of Maharaja Agrasen College, the event centered around the theme of ‘Achieving Sustainable Development Goals: A Path Ahead.’

Distinguished panelists comprising experts from academia and industry graced the occasion, shedding light on various dimensions of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Pragya Arya and Dr. Gaurav Dawar from Apeejay School of Management, alongside Dr. Debjani Roy from Mind Your Fleet, and Dr. Sultan Singh and Mr. Shyan Roy from Maharaja Agrasen College, formed the esteemed panel. The discussion was expertly moderated by Dr. Ranjit Kaur, an Assistant Professor at Apeejay School of Management.

The panel deliberated on the multifaceted nature of SDGs, emphasising the collective responsibility of individuals and institutions in driving sustainable development. Audience engagement played a pivotal role, with students and faculty actively participating, posing insightful questions, and sharing valuable suggestions.

Following the enriching panel discussion, students from both institutions showcased their research prowess through paper presentations on diverse SDG-related topics. Each presentation was met with keen interest, fostering an atmosphere of intellectual exchange and learning. The papers ranged from discussions on circular business models to case studies on sustainable cities and communities, highlighting the intricate interplay between societal dimensions, environmental concerns, and health outcomes.

The culmination of the event witnessed the recognition of outstanding presentations, with Mr. Mohnish from Maharaja Surajmal College clinching the first prize for his insightful analysis on integrating societal dimensions into circular business model design. Ms. Yogita Ahuja and Ms. Priyadarshani Sharma from Apeejay School of Management secured the second and third prizes, respectively, for their thought-provoking papers on sustainable cities and communities and the food-health-environment framework for addressing SDGs.

Apart from accolades in the form of trophies and certificates, the winners were also rewarded with cash prizes, further motivating them to continue their pursuit of academic excellence in sustainable development.

The event served as a testament to the collaborative spirit and commitment of educational institutions towards fostering awareness and action on critical global issues like sustainability. It provided a platform for students to showcase their research acumen and contribute meaningfully to the discourse on sustainable development, setting the stage for a brighter, more sustainable future.
