As the sun rose on a crisp August morning, the school’s campus was abuzz with excitement and creative energy with students from different grades gathered to showcase their photographic prowess and celebrate the universal art of photography.

Understanding World Photography Day

World Photography Day, observed annually on August 19, commemorates the revolutionary invention of the daguerreotype, a photographic process developed by French inventor Louis Daguerre in 1837. This ground-breaking innovation paved the way for modern photography, changing the way we perceive and document the world around us. This day is not just about honouring the history of photography but also recognising its profound impact on communication, art, and the preservation of memories.

Fostering Artistic Expression and Creativity

The school set the stage for this year’s World Photography Day celebration by hosting captivating photography competitions that showcased the boundless creativity of its students. Divided into two categories based on their grade levels, Category I (classes VI to VIII) and Category II (classes IX to XII), these budding photographers were given the opportunity to explore and interpret two enthralling themes: Reflective Photography and Power of Nature.

The competition was not merely a contest; it was a canvas for the students to express themselves, honing their artistic skills and experimenting with diverse photographic techniques and genres. By participating in it, young minds learned to observe their surroundings with a keen eye, transforming ordinary scenes into extraordinary visual stories.

The Power of Themes

The themes chosen for the competition were carefully curated to spark the students’ imagination and challenge their creativity. Reflective Photography encouraged participants to capture moments in which surfaces, such as water or glass, reflect light and create intriguing compositions.
