Faridabad school highlights importance of holistic learning in parent orientation programme

Apeejay School, Faridabad Sector 15, held an orientation programme recently for parents of newly admitted students to familiarise them with the school’s teaching practises, infrastructure and other aspects. Purnima Vohra, education officer, Apeejay Education, and Dr Trideep Kumar Choudhary, MBBS, MD in Psychiatry, and senior consultant for Mental Health and Behavioural Science, Fortis Health Care, graced the occasion among other dignitaries.

The event began with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp. The children then invoked Lord Ram to seek his blessings on the occasion.

School principal Anita Yadav welcomed the parents and provided them with an overview of the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, various teaching methodologies adopted, and co-scholastic activities. In her speech, she also discussed the social and cultural initiatives undertaken by the school in the past.

The session was then taken up by Dr Trideep Kumar Choudhary, who spoke about positive parenting and how it can help children perform better in school, have fewer behavioural problems, and maintain stronger mental health.

To aid in their parenting efforts, parents were presented with a folder containing a monograph on Value Education and a book titled “Is Your Child Ready to Face the World?” by Dr Anupam Sibal.

The programme concluded with a vibrant Rajasthani dance performance by students from the primary wing, followed by a formal vote of thanks from the school’s headmistress, Ritu Kanwar. High tea was also organised for the parents where they interacted with one another.

The parents expressed their gratitude for the informative session. They felt encouraged to partner with the school’s management and staff to impart holistic learning to students and help them become good human beings.
