Recently, Apeejay School, Noida, hosted a heartwarming week-long storytelling initiative titled Treasure of Stories by Grandmothers. The event beautifully celebrated the timeless art of storytelling, as grandmothers of students from Nursery to Class XII stepped into classrooms to share their cherished tales.
The atmosphere throughout the week was filled with affection, nostalgia, and laughter. Each storytelling session became a window to the past, where words carried values, warmth, and wisdom passed down through generations. With expressive voices and heartfelt emotions, the grandmothers narrated stories that blended moral lessons with humour and imagination. Their tales reflected India’s rich cultural heritage, weaving together themes of kindness, honesty, courage, and gratitude.

Children listened in rapt attention, their eyes gleaming with curiosity and wonder. They were transported to worlds of fantasy, folklore, and inspiration. The gentle presence of the grandmothers made the sessions even more special, reminding everyone that storytelling is not just about narration, but about connection and emotion.
The event also served as a bridge between generations, bringing grandparents and children closer through shared experiences. Teachers and parents appreciated how this initiative nurtured the values of empathy, respect, and family bonding among young learners.
The initiative taught children the power of listening, imagination, and emotional expression. They learnt that stories are not merely entertainment, but a source of life lessons and cultural understanding. It encouraged students to value oral traditions, appreciate elders’ wisdom, and find joy in the simple act of sharing and listening.
The week concluded on a touching note, with smiles, hugs, and memories that will stay in the hearts of both storytellers and their young audience for years to come
