Declamation competitions play a crucial role in shaping young minds. Beyond just public speaking, they help students think critically, express opinions confidently, and develop empathy by stepping into the shoes of others. They also hone essential 21st-century skills — research, communication, and self-awareness setting the stage for strong leadership and social responsibility in the future.

An engaging English Declamation Competition was organised for the students of Class V at Apeejay School, Noida. The event was aimed at promoting effective public speaking skills and boosting self-confidence among young learners. The preliminary round was held earlier on July 16, where students eloquently expressed their views on the thought-provoking topic, Digital manners are just as important as real-life manners. Judged by Ms Parijat Sonker, Ms. Bharti Koul, Ms Basusree Roy, and Ms Jisha Pillai, the round witnessed enthusiastic participation across all sections. The top five speakers from each section were selected to move on to the finals.

The final round revolved around the powerful theme, Real heroes don’t wear capes, they help others quietly. This meaningful topic encouraged students to reflect on the everyday acts of kindness and the impact of silent heroes in our society. The finalists impressed the audience and judges with their clarity of thought, heartfelt delivery, and confident stage presence.

Participants were evaluated on various parameters, including content, voice modulation, diction, confidence, expression, and overall presentation. The esteemed judges for the final round, Mrs Ruchi Sinha and Mrs Shruti Bagga, praised the students’ maturity and eloquence, commending them for their research and delivery.

The Principal, Dr Neha Sharma, interacted with the young speakers and emphasised the importance of kindness, compassion, and humility in one’s daily life. She congratulated all participants and declared the much-awaited results.
