The holistic development of a child at school encompasses nurturing their physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and creative capacities. “This school offers numerous opportunities for children to interact with peers, teachers, and other members of the school community. Group projects, extracurricular activities, and collaborative learning experiences help children develop social skills like teamwork, communication, conflict resolution, and empathy,” shares Aditi Julka Malhotra whose son Arush studies in class VIII at Apeejay School, Tanda Road.
Excerpts from the interview
Why did you select Apeejay for your son?
First and foremost it’s the best school in the city. Moreover, the school boasts of providing the best of facilities to the students and the general environment is also very friendly, secure and safe for everyone.
How are the teachers here?
The environment that the teachers have created in the school is so positive and nice that it motivates the child to learn more, feel enthusiastic, and cheerful. I appreciate the teachers who put so much effort and patience to help children study well.
What all sports and extracurricular activities Arush enjoys at school?
My son actively participates in dancing, playing chess, declamations and other similar activities. The school has initiated so many activities and encourages students to participate in one or the other, this goes a long way in keeping their happy spirits high.
How much do you agree with the adage – school is the second home for a child?
It’s completely true because our kids spend most of their time at school. When the school environment is good, friendly, caring, supportive and cooperative it influences the child’s personality to a large extent. My kid especially loves to go to school and spend time with his friends and teachers there. They maintain a really positive vibe there.
Define your parenting mantra.
I try to be a friend to my son so that he never feels uncomfortable sharing anything with me. I always keep a watch on what activities my son enjoys and where he spends his time. I encourage communicating in different topics and trends with him so that I can understand his view point.
What kind of interaction do you have with your son?
My son is now growing up so fast. He has already turned 13. He has keen interest in sports and wishes to become a cricketer. He is planning to enroll in a sports academy. The teachers also push him to pursue the game ahead.
