Overnight camp is a community where children get the opportunity to come together to know each other while learning life lessons. Long periods of confinement in one place can result in dullness. School excursions play a crucial role in breaking this dullness.

To make the last years of school memorable for their students, Apeejay School, Kharghar, recently took classes 11 and 12 for an overnight camp to Monteria Resort and Monteria Village, Khalapur, Maharashtra.

The students reported early morning at the school, after which the group took off in a luxury bus to Monteria Resort. Students had a sumptuous breakfast and thereafter, enjoyed the water rides, rain dance and various adventure activities.

With safety as the first priority, necessary precautions and procedures were explained. They even got a chance to play their favorite games like cricket, badminton and table tennis. Subsequently, the students joined for lunch in the rooftop restaurant of the resort. After which, they got some time to relax in the rooms provided for them.

In the evening, all the students gathered to enjoy their high tea, and later, they all dressed up and assembled in the banquet hall for the most awaited Retro DJ Party followed by a mesmerising fashion show. Everyone retired to their rooms post dinner.

Next morning, students woke up and enjoyed the well-maintained gardens of the resort. Everyone had a lavish breakfast before checking out from the resort, and headed straight to Monteria Village, a tourist destination, about 2.5 kms away from the Monteria Resort.

Further, they explored flower gardens, wheat harvests, hydroponics, and even participated in activities like making clay pots, boating and adventure activities like giant swings. There was an array of activities lined up for students. After a splendid lunch, they chilled out for the rest of the day.

While talking about her experience, Trisha Srivastava of class 11 C expressed, “These outings gave us the freedom to talk openly with friends, teachers, and others. Activities such as pottery, agro trailing, biogas, bamboo basket weaving, village mela, etc. were enjoyed by everyone. A fun magic show and a puppet show made the place fill with laughter.”

Students left for school with innumerable memories. The excursion was really fabulous as it made their friendship even stronger and taught them the values of cooperation, teamwork and adaptability.
