Educational excursions are an important part of a student’s holistic development. They provide a welcome break from routine classroom learning, allowing students to explore new environments, enhance their practical knowledge, and engage in hands-on activities. Recently, a group of 276 students from classes III, IV, and V, along with 18 teachers, went on an exciting excursion to Lohagarh Farms, a scenic rural retreat known for its educational and recreational offerings.
The day began with an early morning gathering at the school premises, where students were briefed by their teachers before boarding buses for the hour-long journey to the farm. The scenic drive added to the excitement, as the children eagerly anticipated the day’s events. On arrival, the students were greeted warmly by the farm staff and given a brief orientation on the day’s activities, including safety guidelines.

‘It was a wonderful day filled with both learning and enjoyment. The students not only gained valuable educational insights but also had the opportunity to experience the charm of rural life through an exciting excursion. They were introduced to village life, including the traditional bullock cart. This hands-on experience allowed them to explore the surroundings in a way that deepened their understanding of nature, culture, and history’ quoted Ms. Bhawna Toshniwal PRT Science and Primary activity coordinator.
The farm visit was packed with engaging activities designed to connect the students with nature and rural life. The students participated in a pottery-making session, followed by adventurous outdoor activities like zip-lining, climbing walls, and obstacle courses. The farm staff also demonstrated the basics of organic farming, and students had the opportunity to plant seeds in the fields, learning about sustainable agriculture.

After a busy morning of activities, the students enjoyed a healthy and delicious lunch prepared from the farm’s organic produce. The day concluded with a sense of fulfillment, as the students returned to school with newfound knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the environment. The trip provided them with not only a break from their academic routine but also an enriching experience that enhanced their understanding of nature and rural living.
Such excursions offer invaluable learning experiences that contribute to a student’s overall growth, nurturing curiosity, and a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
