Architecture is more than just bricks and mortar — it is a reflection of a nation’s culture, history, and artistic vision. Apeejay School, Nerul recently brought this concept to life with an inspiring exhibition under Curriculum Activity-4, Shapes of Culture: Exploring Patterns. The event, part of Sub-Activity-5 within the RIDS initiative, transported visitors to the architectural wonders of Italy, France, Japan, and India, offering a captivating exploration of how monuments shape the cultural identity of a nation. Through a fusion of creativity and research, students showcased the intricate designs and symbolic patterns that make each country’s heritage uniquely beautiful.

Students presented a series of creative displays, each reflecting the distinctive architectural styles and cultural patterns that define the monuments of these countries. The exhibits featured detailed models, informative posters, and comprehensive explanations, offering visitors a glimpse into the artistic brilliance behind some of the world’s most iconic structures. From Italy’s grand Roman structures to Japan’s minimalist temples, France’s Gothic cathedrals to India’s majestic temples and forts, the exhibition captured the essence of each culture through its architectural marvels.

The students’ efforts were impressive, as they brought these ancient and modern monuments to life with intricate designs and carefully researched content. The exhibits not only highlighted the aesthetics of the structures but also delved into the cultural significance and historical context behind them. Visitors, including parents, teachers, and students, were thoroughly impressed with the depth of knowledge and creativity demonstrated by the young minds.

The exhibition underscored the importance of appreciating and preserving cultural heritage, with an emphasis on the need to understand the diverse architectural styles that have shaped different civilisations. It was an excellent example of how education can be brought to life through art and creativity, encouraging students to explore and appreciate global cultures.

Shapes of Culture was a perfect blend of education and innovation, offering a platform for cross-cultural learning and artistic expression. It was a celebration of the diversity and beauty of world architecture, highlighting the significance of understanding and preserving the cultural legacies of nations around the world.
