Early childhood education is not just about academics; it is also about nurturing values, character, and cultural pride. Keeping this in mind, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, organised a patriotic Role-play Competition for kindergarten students on August 19, 2025. The event encouraged children to imbibe patriotism, stage confidence, and an appreciation of India’s freedom struggle and diversity through creative performances.
The programme instilled in them the essence of patriotism, confidence in self-expression, and awareness of India’s cultural and historical legacy. At this tender age, such experiential learning becomes a powerful medium to nurture values of courage, unity, and respect for the nation’s freedom struggle.

The competition was designed grade-wise to make the experience age-appropriate and meaningful. Nursery students came dressed as freedom fighters, portraying the great leaders who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence. LKG students took on the roles of famous Indian personalities, demonstrating how leaders, thinkers, and visionaries have shaped modern India. Meanwhile, UKG students represented different states of the country, highlighting the theme of Unity in Diversity — one of India’s greatest strengths.
The little ones brought history to life with their captivating performances. From fiery speeches of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and the fearless stance of Rani Lakshmi Bai, to the visionary words of Swami Vivekananda and the humility of Lal Bahadur Shastri, each child stepped into their character with remarkable confidence. Some also enacted contemporary personalities such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, bridging the nation’s journey from past to present.
Adding to the celebration of diversity, students dressed in the traditional attire of states like Punjab, Rajasthan, Kashmir, and Nagaland. Through their short yet impactful dialogues, they showcased how every region contributes to the collective spirit of India.

The stage came alive with the children’s powerful lines, colourful costumes, and expressive gestures. Their ability to memorise, perform, and embody the essence of their roles reflected not only creativity but also developing stage confidence and communication skills. Teachers and parents in the audience appreciated the young performers for their enthusiasm and the meaningful way in which they paid tribute to India’s heroes.
The Role-Play Competition was more than just a school event — it was a celebration of national pride through the eyes of children. By blending fun with learning, it successfully sowed seeds of patriotism, unity, and respect for heritage in the youngest learners, leaving an impression that will grow with them for years to come.
