Building a culture of ethics in the classroom
Teachers at Apeejay School, Model Town, explore the values that shape education
Ethics and integrity remain central to the way educators shape classroom culture and student behaviour. With this focus, Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, organised an in-house CBSE Capacity Building Programme on Ethics and Integrity for its educators.
On the occasion, Ms Maninder Kaur, CTO, was felicitated with a potted plant by the school Principal, Dr Rajesh Kumar Chandel. The gesture recognised her dedicated contribution towards strengthening the NCC programme.
The session was facilitated by Ms Diksha Trehan, PGT English. She engaged the teachers through interactive discussions and activities that encouraged them to reflect on the role of values in education.
The programme highlighted the importance of ethics, integrity, empathy and responsible citizenship. These ideas were discussed not only as personal qualities but also as principles that influence everyday decisions in the classroom.
Teachers explored how trust, fairness and accountability can be strengthened through their own conduct. The session also underlined the responsibility of educators to lead by example and create an environment where students feel respected and supported.
In line with NEP 2020 and CBSE
The workshop was aligned with the vision of NEP 2020 and CBSE. It encouraged educators to look at value-based education as an important part of teaching and learning.
By focusing on practical situations and shared experiences, the programme gave teachers an opportunity to examine how ethical choices shape relationships within the school community. The activities helped connect broad ideas such as integrity and empathy with the realities of classroom life.
A renewed commitment
The programme concluded with educators renewing their commitment to uphold ethical values in their professional responsibilities. The session reinforced the need for teachers to build a culture based on fairness, trust and accountability.
The event brought together reflection, participation and recognition. It also reaffirmed the school’s focus on responsible citizenship, ethical leadership and the wider role of educators in shaping values.
