The Fashion Design Department at Apeejay Institute of Design (AID)  emphasises practical exposure to industry dynamics. Recently, the fashion design students went on an educational tour to the ‘Bharat Tex Fair, 2024’, a trade exhibition showcasing various facets of the textile value chain.

The fair provided a comprehensive overview of the textile industry, featuring manufacturers, exporters, and importers displaying their latest collections and innovations. Students had the opportunity to explore a diverse range of garment collections, including embroidered, quilted, linen, and denim garments from various brands and exporters.

Beyond garments, the exhibition also highlighted fabrics, home furnishings, state-wise textiles, craftsmanship, and technical textiles. Notably, sustainability emerged as a central theme, with fabric manufacturers showcasing recycled fabrics and presenting their production processes aimed at environmental conservation.

The visit offered students valuable insights into emerging trends and technologies in the textile industry. They engaged with stalls offering services such as Pantone colour matching, WGSN forecast services, block printing demonstrations, and interactions with handloom weavers. These interactions provided a deeper understanding of colour trends, market forecasts, traditional craftsmanship, and innovative fabric production techniques.

By attending the Bharat Tex Fair, students gained practical knowledge that complements their theoretical learning. They observed firsthand the intricacies of garment manufacturing, fabric selection, and the significance of sustainability in contemporary fashion. Additionally, interactions with industry experts and professionals broadened their perspectives and enhanced their understanding of the textile market landscape.

Overall, the trade fair served as a platform for students to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry practices. It equipped them with valuable insights and experiences that will undoubtedly contribute to their growth and success as future professionals in the fashion design domain.
