Young learners discover the values of Lord Krishna
Janmashtami celebration blends festivity, faith, and learning at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri
Festivals help young children understand culture through experiences they can see, hear and enjoy. With this purpose, the Pre-primary section of Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, celebrated Janmashtami. The school premises came alive with devotion, colour and the cheerful participation of its youngest learners.
The celebration recreated the charm of Lord Krishna’s childhood in an age-appropriate manner. Dressed as Krishna, Radha, gopikas and other associated characters, the children added warmth to the occasion. Peacock feathers, flutes and colourful traditional attire completed their festive appearance. Their charming smiles and innocent expressions delighted everyone present.
A festive setting
Devotional songs and Krishna bhajans filled the atmosphere as the little ones joined the programme with enthusiasm. Teachers used different activities to introduce them to the cultural and spiritual meaning of Janmashtami. This helped make the festival engaging and easier for the children to understand.
Krishna-themed activities, dance performances and festive presentations formed an important part of the celebration. The children participated confidently and expressed their excitement through lively movements and innocent performances. A special presentation based on Krishna and Radha added further colour to the programme.
Learning through participation
Beyond the festivities, the occasion introduced the young learners to the values associated with Lord Krishna. These included love, kindness, compassion, courage, friendship and righteousness. Celebrating together also allowed the children to learn while taking part in a shared cultural experience.
The school Principal, Dr Vineet Vasishtha, appreciated the sincere efforts of the Pre-primary teachers. “Janmashtami is a celebration of love, devotion, righteousness and the eternal joy of childhood. Such celebrations help children connect with India’s rich cultural heritage while developing confidence, creativity and togetherness. I appreciate the sincere efforts of our Pre-primary teachers. May the divine blessings of Lord Krishna fill our children’s lives with happiness, wisdom, kindness and success,” he shared.
The programme concluded on a joyful note. The innocence, confidence and enthusiasm of the little ones made the celebration memorable, while its values gave the occasion a meaningful learning dimension.
