Celebrating Hindi Diwas with pomp

Apeejay School, Kharghar organises Hindi week at school in which students eagerly participate in Hindi language based activities for an entire week.

Many factors unite India, but one factor that unites us countrymen the most is our love for Hindi, the national language. Hindi has played a pivotal role in the freedom struggle by bringing together people, cultures and literature, which were otherwise miles apart.

In the contemporary globalised world, where English unites continents, it is essential that we hold on to our roots and national language. To acquaint students with the rich cultural legacy of Hindi, Apeejay School, Kharghar recently celebrated Hindi week at school with a lot of pomp and gusto.

For an entire week, the school morning assembly was conducted in Hindi. It was extremely refreshing for students and staff alike to hear the quotidian thought for the day, daily news, word of the day in Hindi. In addition to this, students recited iconic Hindi poems, read out the reviews of classic Hindi literature books alongside the biography of legendary Hindi poets. The young learners were totally delighted to give speeches in their Rashtra Bhasha.

Further, the school conducted several activities in the subject enrichment period. Students exercised their knowledge in Hindi as they participated in activities such as Hindi poster making, slogan writing, Shabd gyan (Hindi vocabulary test).

Inter house competitions also adhered to the Hindi week celebrations. Students thoroughly enjoyed participating in Hindi language based competitions.  Hindi short story and poetry writing competition, self-written Hindi poetry recitation competition, Hindi debates, Hindi cursive writing and street play saw a massive participation from the students.

Speaking about the importance of Hindi as a language, Head of the Hindi Department, Mrs. Usha Aggarwal said, “हिंदी है भारत की भाषा, इस को आगे लाना होगा , विश्व भाषाओं के समक्ष ,

इसे किरीट बनाना होगा.” (Hindi is India’s language, we have to promote it in order to bring it at an equal level with other global languages.)

She further added, “हिंदी भाषा का परचम फहराने के लिए एपीजे स्कूल, खारघर ने प्रतिवर्ष की भांति इस वर्ष हिंदी सप्ताह का सफलतापूर्वक आयोजन किया गया। (To promote Hindi as a language, Apeejay School, Kharghar organised the annual Hindi week celebration) वाद-विवाद प्रतियोगिता में प्रतिभागियों के वक्तव्य  एवं स्वरचित कविता वाचन प्रतियोगिता में प्रतियोगियों के भावों से विद्यार्थी एवं शिक्षक भावविभोर हो गए । रचनात्मक गतिविधियों में छात्रों का उत्साह देखते ही बनता था । (Hearing the emotion filled opinions of the students in the Hindi debate and poetry recitation competition, students and teachers in the audience were left totally spellbound. The student’s enthusiasm at such creative exercises was very heart-warming).

The week-long celebrations successfully concluded witnessing not just an active participation from the students but also saw an increase in the interest and love for Hindi literature.
