“A good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others.” – Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Former President of Turkey

It is rightly said that teachers shape the destiny of nations, for they forge the character of the future generations. Almost everyone fondly remembers the contributions of teachers in life. It is only fitting that teachers are awarded for their relentless service towards humanity.

Apeejay School, Saket teachers: Ms Rekha Pant, TGT (Trained Graduate teacher) Hindi and Mr Arvind TGT Sanskrit were recently awarded by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for their selfless contribution and commitment towards their subject and pupils.

Another recent event that recognised the priceless role played by teachers, is the Dr Stya Paul Memorial Mathematics Quest. It is a unique annual inter-school event initiated in 2012 as a tribute to beloved founder Chairman: Dr Stya Paul, who was himself a keen and proficient mathematician.

This year, different competitions were held for students as well as teachers with the intention to provide a platform for all to showcase their talent and build an online interactive forum.

On the second day of the event, teachers across India participated in a paper presentation on the theme: ‘Innovative Practices in Teaching-Learning of Mathematics Integrated with Art’. Participating teachers were expected to integrate maths with an art form for better understanding of the students.

Ms. Meenu Sehgal from Apeejay School, Saket, was awarded with the second best paper award. Her paper focused on: Multiplication of integers using contours. She very innovatively associated her paper with the popular game of Tic-tac-toe. Her paper also included a video, featuring a rap song on multiplication of integers composed by her students.

“Opportunities don’t happen, you create them! Team Apeejay School Saket believes in creating leaders and leaves no stone unturned to ensure that the staff and students get all the possible opportunities to shine and become a pole star for others to follow”
