‘My placement experience with Apeejay Stya University was very supportive, and enriching’

Grace Jemima, a B.Tech Computer Science Engineering graduate from School of Engineering & Technology (SOET) at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram, credits her academic journey for shaping her technical expertise and professional confidence. Currently working as a Product Intern at Smartping AI Pvt Ltd, Grace believes the university’s strong academic foundation, practical exposure, and supportive faculty played a key role in preparing her for the professional world. In this interview, she shares her placement journey, learnings, and future aspirations.  Read edited excerpts:

Where are you working and what position?

Currently, I am working at Smartping AI Pvt Ltd as a Product Intern. This role has given me valuable exposure to the product development process and helped me understand how innovative ideas are transformed into real-world solutions.

As part of my role, I have been involved in understanding user requirements, learning product workflows, and contributing to ongoing projects in a fast-paced professional environment. Working with different teams has also enhanced my collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Overall, this experience has provided me with practical industry exposure and a deeper understanding of how technology and innovation come together to create impactful products.

How was your placement experience with Apeejay? How did you prepare for placement?

My placement experience with Apeejay Stya University was very supportive, and enriching. The university’s placement cell organised various training sessions and workshops that helped students become industry-ready and confident during the recruitment process.

To prepare for placements, I focused on strengthening my technical knowledge, improving my communication skills, and regularly practicing aptitude and interview questions. I also worked on building a strong resume and actively participated in mock interview sessions, which greatly boosted my confidence and presentation skills.

The continuous guidance, mentorship, and support from the university played a significant role in helping me prepare professionally and successfully navigate the placement process.

 How did faculty at Apeejay help you prepare for your professional journey?

The faculty members at Apeejay Stya University were highly supportive and encouraging throughout my academic journey. They not only focused on strengthening our theoretical knowledge but also emphasised practical learning and real-world applications.

The faculty guided us in project work, presentations, internships, and personality development activities, which helped us enhance both technical and professional skills. Their mentorship and continuous support played a significant role in shaping my professional mindset, improving my problem-solving abilities, and building the confidence required to adapt successfully to a corporate environment.

Overall, their guidance motivated me to continuously learn, grow, and prepare myself for future career opportunities.

What skills have you learned at Apeejay?

During my time at Apeejay Stya University, I developed a strong combination of technical knowledge and professional skills. Along with gaining a solid understanding of core Computer Science Engineering concepts, I enhanced essential abilities such as analytical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, and effective communication.

The university also provided valuable practical exposure through projects, workshops, presentations, and internships, which helped me understand industry expectations and apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios. These experiences played a significant role in preparing me for a professional work environment and encouraged me to continuously learn and grow in my career journey.

Overall, my learning experience at Apeejay helped me become more confident, adaptable, and industry-ready.

What are your future aspirations ?

My future aspiration is to continue growing professionally and become highly skilled in my field. I aim to gain deeper industry experience, take on greater responsibilities, and contribute meaningfully to the organisation I work with.

I also aspire to continuously learn emerging technologies and further strengthen my leadership, communication, and management skills. In the long term, I hope to build a successful and impactful career where I can contribute to innovation, inspire continuous learning, and achieve both professional and personal growth.
