Rupinder Kaur from Jalandhar got three impressive job offers from ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and smartData Enterprises through campus placements. She pursued an MBA with a specialisation in Marketing and Operations at Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC). “At present, I am undergoing a training programme at smartData after which I will start my tenure at Associate-Business Development Group (BDG),” she said. Read on to know more about her journey:

Why did you decide to do an MBA in Marketing and Operations?

I opted for an MBA as it opens up a wider scope of career opportunities. Once I began my course at AIMETC, I was able to identify my area of interest and that’s why I chose Marketing and Operations. Marketing, for instance, is valuable across industries, and specialising in the subject allows one to explore various sectors. Production and Operations, on the other hand, promise better opportunities in the foreign market.

From your experience, what did you learn about the key things that can help someone crack an interview?

You have to be very confident when you speak. Remember recruiters will only choose you if your personality aligns with that of the company and meets its needs. So, one should not be disheartened if a particular recruiter doesn’t deem you fit for the organisation. Be yourself in an interview and you will definitely bag the role that suits your personality the most. It is important to identify your qualities and work on them. Third, you must have adequate knowledge about the recruiting company and your job profile. You must not take up a job role blindly but have a clear idea of what you will deliver if you get selected.

What exposure did you get at AIMETC through its wide range of educational activities?

We got good exposure through activities like workshops, guest lectures, contests, and more. They helped us enhance our knowledge and skills. I was part of a few clubs in college, like the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), and organised many events.

What do you have to say about the AIMETC faculty?

The professors were always responsive to students’ needs. They provided me with solutions whenever I needed their help. I would like to especially thank our Dean Dr Rajan Chaudhary for helping me develop my personality and skills for the job interviews and professor Ajwinder Singh Dhillon for his immense help during the placements. The support and motivation I received from all my professors proved to be very useful throughout my journey at AIMETC.
