‘Apeejay Svran Global school produces all-rounders’

Mr. Pramod Kumar and Mrs. Deepmala are both employed at senior positions in the private and public sector. Mrs. Deepmala is an Under-Secretary with the Election commission of India while Mr. Pramod Kumar is Senior Manager at Estee Advisors Pvt. Ltd. Their children Kavish and Girisha study in class 2 and class 4 respectively at the Apeejay Svran Global School.  In a wide-ranging interview, the working parents highlight how the teachers at the school gave the children extra-classes during the days the parents were unavailable. Edited excerpts:

Why did you choose Apeejay Svran Global ahead of other schools for the admission of your children?

Mrs. Deepmala: I had heard very good reviews about Apeejay schools since my childhood. Apeejay Svran Global school is close to our place as well.  The school has a great brand value. So, we chose the school for the admission of our children.

Mr. Pramod Kumar: The kids of most of my colleagues and friends are studying  in various other schools . They tell me that most of those schools have a lot of sections and the teachers and administration are also not accessible. 

However, this is not the case with Apeejay Svran Global. When I came to the school for Girisha’s admission in 2017, I could easily get an appointment with Principal Ma’am. I had a very good interaction with her and I remember that she told me really positive things about the school curriculum and other activities at the school. She also told me that there is only one section in each standard. So that was good. The teachers then can properly interact with all the children. Even though some teachers don’t teach Girisha and Kavish, still they know them by their name. That is a great thing about the school

Please tell us a bit about Girisha and Kavish and take us through their progress at school?

Mrs. Deepmala: Girisha is doing very well in all the subjects at school. She has a very keen interest in dance and art and craft. Her dance and art teacher also give her extra time beyond the classes.

Mr. Pramod Kumar:  Kavish joined the school in Nursery in 2018. He attended the school in the offline mode for one year and then the pandemic hit. Math is his favourite subject at school. He has learnt art and craft and loves to play with his toys especially the Avengers-Iron Man. He loves to open the toys, all the screws and everything and then reassemble them.

Are the teachers engaging well with the students?

Mrs. Deepmala: Every teacher gave Girisha extra time whenever she faced any doubt especially during the pandemic. Both of us are working parents and thus are often unable to monitor their online classes. I shared this concern with the teachers. They understood it and took extra classes for both the children. Kavish’s teacher even took his extra classes at 10 in the night. It really touched me a lot. 

Among Girisha’s teachers, I would like to thank Sonia Ma’am, her class teacher in Kindergarten, Sukriti  Ma’am, the class teacher in class 1, Ekta  Ma’am, the class teacher for class 2, Rajni  Ma’am,  the Math teacher and finally Supriti  Ma’am  and Aastha, the science teachers.  Arunima mam is a great teacher, she provides many extra-curricular opportunities to Girisha. I would like to thank Devika Ma’am  for the efforts she has put in for Kavish.

 All the teachers are teaching very well. I have never heard from my colleagues that their children are given extra time by the teachers in those respective schools.

What is the best thing about Apeejay Svran Global School?

Mr. Pramod Kumar: There are so many specialties. The first thing is that the Principal is always reachable to the parents. My experience was very impressive. Whenever we had to interact with the Principal, we would get an appointment the next day itself. The school curriculum is very nice and the way the teachers would explain the subjects in a practical way is also very good. Every teacher puts in their best to explain the key concepts in an enjoyable manner.

Mrs. Deepmala: Apeejay Svran Global School is producing all-rounders. Every festival is celebrated very enthusiastically at the school. It is the same with all the activities. The school is not only about academics.

Are both the children happy to be back at the school?

Mrs. Deepmala: Yes, they are very happy and excited to attend the school physically.

How was the experience of the online classes for Kavish and Girisha?

Mr. Pramod Kumar: Girisha never faced any issue. She was in second class when the pandemic started so she was capable of attending the classes and managing things independently.

It was difficult for Kavish to attend the online classes as such a small kid can’t learn and manage the online classes independently.

Mrs. Deepmala: Whenever Girisha could not attend the classes for a few days, the teachers would always call us up and keep a check on the student.
