Born and brought up in Assam, Arnab Dey from School of Design and Visual Arts at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram, holds a strong passion for art and design. When asked why he aspired to be part of this field, he replied, “I always want to help people visualise their thoughts and ideas through my skills in the design field. And this has been the key inspiration for me to continue pursuing graphic design as a course.”

The Apeejayite has recently been placed with Infonative. “To be honest, the interview process had me at the edge of my seat but it went smoothly once I was there. The interviewer was very nice, soft spoken and easy going, he made me feel comfortable and at ease,” he said.

For preparing for the placement process, Arnab credits Kshitij Kumar Singh, Head-Corporate Relations at Apeejay Stya University. Arnab emphasised,  “Kshitij sir didn’t only act like a mentor but more like an elder brother. When I was placed, my joining date was colliding with my final exam date, and I was stressed. But Kshitij sir contacted my mentors and ensured I am able to give my exams at an earlier date so that it doesn’t hinder my joining process. I will be forever grateful for it. Overall, it was a very beautiful experience that I had at this university and I am grateful for all the help I got from my teachers and peers.”

According to Arnab the basic preparation for any interview consists of preparing for the basic questions such as where do you see yourself in 5 years and why do you want the job. “But generic questions aside, you must be confident about yourself and your skills, and you can ace any interview without any issues. And that’s the same advice I’d like to give to my juniors; do your research, be confident and have a firm handshake,” he highlighted.

Arnab aspires to pursue further Master in Design. However, currently, he is taking one step at a time. “I want to work and gain lots of experience. It would be helpful in the long-run to learn the trending skills from the industry,” he said.
