Virendra Pratap, Senior Manager-Business Development, Data Patterns India Ltd, says teachers at Apeejay Faridabad Sector 15 work hand-in-hand with the parents to facilitate the progress of children. A case in point is the way the school teachers worked on improving his elder daughter Taniksha’s hold on certain subjects; she is now in class 5. This year, he enrolled his younger daughter Dhrisha in kindergarten. In an interview, the father-of-two further talks about how Apeejay focuses on building necessary skills in children. Edited excerpts:

Why did you opt for Apeejay Faridabad Sector 15?

Having lived in Faridabad since childhood, I was well aware of Apeejay Faridabad Sector 15 and its reputation. Besides, the school is situated close to my house which added to the convenience. I was happy with Taniksha’s progress and that’s how I decided to enroll my younger daughter too.

With respect to your experience in the case of Taniksha, what do you think of the way teachers conduct the classes?

The teachers have been guiding students well. I closely observed how Taniksha improved in certain subjects where she was lacking. Earlier, she did not have much command in mathematics, for instance. Her limitations were identified after which the teachers and we as parents worked together to help her. We tried to overcome the shortcomings which resulted in significant progress.

Does this mean that the teachers are giving children personal attention?

Yes, absolutely. The teachers are aware of each child’s strengths and weaknesses. They tell parents well in advance about where one has to improve.

Are the teachers in regular touch with you?

Yes, not just parent-teacher meetings, the teachers are available on WhatsApp groups or on the phone. They keep us updated about all activities going on in class as well as the ones that would be held in the future.

Are you seeing any developments in Taniksha in terms of her personality?

The all-round exposure Apeejay provides is commendable. They are preparing the students by encouraging them to get up on the stage and speak to an audience. Their public speaking skills are improving as well as their confidence levels. Students are also learning to express themselves freely. In a way, the school is preparing children for the future very early.

Has Dhrisha settled in comfortably?

Given how actively Dhrisha is participating in school activities, I can tell she is very happy at school. This is the first time that she is experiencing formal schooling, but she does not throw any tantrums. She is very excited about going to school every day. She is picking things up quite quickly.
