“Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.”

Strongly aligned with the above-mentioned belief, Rotaract Club of Apeejay Stya University (RaCASUG, RID- 3011 sponsered by Rotary Club of Delhi Premier) organised a stationery donation drive ‘आशाएं’ .

Apeejay students and members of Rotaract Club visited a nearby NGO in Freedom Fighters Enclave, Delhi, to distribute stationery items including NCERT books (1st to 12th), poem/story books (KG to Nursery), rough/fair notebooks, unused notebooks, pen, pencils, erasers, colour pencils, etc. to the underprivileged children.

The goal was to arm these children with different tools of education, thus empowering their future for a better tomorrow.  All the volunteers generously donated their spare stationery. In addition, ASU students spent a wonderful time with the children residing at the NGO.

Sharing his experience, Rtr. Harsh Sah, Vice President (2022-23), RaCASUG,  RID 3011 expressed, “I strongly believe in this philosophy that, ‘to donate something is charity, but to share something is humanity.’ Books and education play a major role in providing knowledge to people. And in many cases, opportunities to avail education are lacking. In fact,  some learners don’t have access to books and important reference materials. Hence, taking a small step like donating books is something that we can very much do. And this will help in educating underprivileged children. Knowledge shared is after all knowledge squared and books are the means to do so effectively!”

Another volunteer Chandrajeet Dhara, a 2-year B.Tech Biotechnology student at ASU said, “I had an immense sense of satisfaction after seeing the smile on the children’s faces when we distributed the books. We also played games and did a lot of fun activities with them. Spreading education is the most important avenue in the pillar of success of our youths.”
