Apeejay Stya University celebrates National Sports Day 2022. Students participate in numerous sporting activities and develop sportsmanship

Apeejay Stya University (ASU) under the aegis of National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Rotaract and Sports clubs of the university celebrated National Sports Day 2022.  

National Sports Day also called the Rashtriya Khel Diwas commemorates the birth anniversary of Indian hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand.

Several sporting events were organised in the campus as students participated with a roaring enthusiasm. Events such as bicycle races, dodge ball and tug of war were organised for the students. Boys and Girls participated in teams and made the celebrations a big hit.  

Prof R.S. Dhankar inaugurated the celebrations of the sports day. He highlighted the importance of sports in his address to the students as he said, “Sports is a must for everyone and one must include it in daily life.”

Prof Dhankar also made students and staff alike take an oath to include sports in their life and develop values of sportsmanship.  He then flagged off the bicycle race and declared the sports day celebrations open.

After an arduous day of sporting activities, the prizes were awarded to the winners in a special ceremony. Dean Student’s welfare: Prof Sanjay Ahirwal and Dr. Vijay Kumar announced the results of the events.

The event was coordinated by Saksham Arora, Simpy Kumari, Dhairya Goel, Vikas Chaudhary
Abhinash, Himanshu, Suraj Hota, Muskan Garg, Anshika, Mehak, Rashmi and Aastha. The sports coordinators were Saksham and Simpy, from BA LLB program. Aastha and Anushka were the anchors for the events.

The vote of thanks was delivered by President of the Rotaract Club , Archita Rath. She thanked all the students and teachers for coming together and making the celebrations a success. 

“ASU believes in the philosophy of man making and nation building which is not possible without a harmonious development of mind, body and spirit together. Development of healthy body is important and we need to highlight this fact to students through organising various events like the National Sports Day”
