At Apeejay School, Noida, academic excellence is nurtured through consistent effort, strong mentorship, and family support. Meet three outstanding Class VII-D (academic year 2024-25) — Pavi Singh, Pakhi Shrivastava, and Suhanya Johari — who shared their inspiring journeys and the strategies behind their remarkable results.
Pavi, who scored 99%, excluding the third language, said that she didn’t expect to top the class, but she had worked diligently for the exams. “My strategy was to focus on regular practice and concentrate on my studies. I made it a point to study every day, and this regularity helped me remember topics for a longer time. It also made my exam preparations less stressful,” she shared.
The support from her teachers was also crucial. “They guided me whenever I went wrong and gave me helpful tips on how to write answers during the exams. My mother played a huge role too — she teaches me and constantly reminds me about the importance of studying regularly. On a regular day, I would study for one to two hours, but during exams, this would go up to four to six hours. This steady effort paid off,” she said.
Pakhi, who scored 98.8%, was thrilled with her result since she made her parents proud. “While I didn’t study for long hours, I ensured that I studied consistently for about two hours every day. I believe that consistency is the key to achieving excellent grades. This approach helped me cover the entire syllabus in time and made revision much easier during the exams,” she shared.
Social Studies was challenging due to its detailed content, but she tackled it through regular study, help from my mother, and using additional resources. “To memorise dates and key points, I created summary charts and revised them daily. My teachers patiently cleared my doubts, even at the last moment. My mother encouraged a balance between study and play, helping me stay calm. My father supported me in competitions and guided me on how to write effectively in English exams,” she added.
Suhanya, who scored 98.2%, including a centum in Hindi, said that she didn’t follow a strict study schedule. “Instead, I revise the chapters being taught in class thoroughly and try to stay a step ahead in the syllabus. I don’t study for long hours — usually one to two hours a day — but I make sure I do it with focus and concentration. Studying every day helped me avoid stress during the exams,” she said and added that English, particularly grammar, was a little tough for her.
So, she used reference books and sought help from her teachers. They were always ready to help with doubts, whether it was related to chapters or grammar concepts. During exam time, my parents supported me a lot by helping me revise and even resolving some of the doubts I had. Their encouragement and the guidance from my teachers helped me achieve this result,” she shared.
