Chess tournament sharpens young minds at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri

Students from Classes VI to XII demonstrate strategy, focus, and sportsmanship in an engaging inter-house competition.

Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, organised an engaging Chess Tournament for students of Classes VI to XII. The event brought together young chess enthusiasts from the middle and senior school sections, offering them an opportunity to demonstrate their concentration, analytical ability, patience, and strategic thinking.

With separate categories for boys and girls, the tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across houses. Each match reflected careful planning, quick decision-making, and a strong understanding of the game. More than a competition, the event encouraged students to remain calm under pressure, think ahead, and accept both victory and defeat with grace. 

The tournament was conducted smoothly under the guidance of Mr Sandeep Sangwan, PGT Physical Education. His efforts ensured that the matches were played in a fair, disciplined, and competitive environment. Students followed the rules with sincerity and displayed commendable sportsmanship throughout the event.

In the Classes VI-VIII Boys category, Hardik of Class VII from Gautam House secured the first position. Maanit Mittal of Class VIII from Nanak House claimed the second position, while Parag Chahar of Class VII from Gautam House finished third.

In the Classes VI-VIII Girls category, Drishti of Class VII from Kabir House emerged as the winner. Nandini Seelwal of Class VIII, also from Kabir House, secured second place, while Tamanna Dhosiwal of Class VII from Vivekanand House earned third place.

Among the Classes IX-XII Boys category, Vivek Rajpant of Class XII from Gautam House won the championship. Divyadeep Sangwan of Class IX from Vivekanand House was declared runner-up, while Abhiraj Chahar of Class IX from Gautam House secured the third position.

In the Classes IX-XII Girls category, Ananya Loth of Nanak House claimed the first position. Pallavi of Class IX from Vivekanand House secured second place, followed by Kashvika of Class XI from Gautam House in third place.

The tournament concluded with a prize distribution ceremony led by Principal Dr. Vineet Vasishtha. He congratulated the winners and participants for their dedication and appreciated Mr. Sangwan for organising the event successfully. He encouraged students to take part in such intellectual competitions, which help develop critical thinking, discipline, perseverance, and decision-making skills.

Certificates were awarded to the winners and participants in recognition of their efforts. The tournament reflected the school’s commitment to holistic education, inspiring students to build skills that extend well beyond the chessboard.
