The competence and dedication of a teacher greatly impact the learning experience of a child. It is very important to choose the right school that is highly accompanied by quality teachers, a good environment, and promotes ethical values. Therefore, Narayan Swamy Iyer, a devoted father of Ananya Iyer, a student of class II, studying at Apeejay School, Nerul chose this school.

“The stark change that I have seen in my daughter is that she has become more responsible and disciplined ever since she joined the school. I believe that the curriculum and the environment of the school are responsible for shaping her better,” Iyer said.

Excerpts from the interview:

What made you choose this school?

There is not just one but a couple of reasons why I chose this school. First, from a logistical perspective, it is conveniently located at my residence; the school is just 600-700 metres away. Second, which is the more important reason, the school has an excellent academic reputation, with several students achieving outstanding results. Third, the quality of teaching was another compelling factor.

Is she involved in any extracurricular activities?

Yes. Ananya has a great knack for music and singing. She is also very much involved in classical dancing. The good part is that she loves going to school. She wakes up early and gets ready on time. She ensures that she is never late.

How do you encourage her to study at home?

Since me and my wife both are working, Ananya primarily spends her time with her grandmother (my mother), who has extensive knowledge about educational boards, including ICSE and CBSE. She helps Ananya with all her school homework and studies. My mother also provides extra guidance as well.

What aspect of the curriculum has helped your child develop good study habits?

She completes the homework on time and has become more disciplined. She started schooling during the pandemic when everything was online. For three years she attended online classes; she had no idea of what a school schedule was. Initially, she faced a little difficulty attending school but gradually settled down.

Was your decision to choose this school appropriate?

So far so good. I hope this continues in the same manner as it was in the initial process itself. The admission process was easy as well. We did not face any hindrances while interacting with the principal. The other staff was also supportive and highly friendly.

Are PTMs held regularly?

Yes, and my wife and I make it a point to attend every PTM held every month. We place significant importance on the feedback provided during these meetings, taking it seriously and actively addressing any areas for improvement for our child.

How do you spend quality time with your child?

I have limited time to spend with Ananya during the week. Majorly she stays with her grandparents, and during weekends, we engage in music sessions, enjoy playing board games, and sometimes go cycling.
