He is currently working in the Supreme Court as an advocate and mainly handles corporate commercial disputes, but since he is practising in the Supreme Court, he takes up whatever matters come in. Meet Sarthak Bhatia, alumnus of Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad (batch 2011). In a candid interview, he shares his fond memories from the school, among other things.
How did you get interested in corporate cases?
I always wanted to be on the corporate side. After completing school, I opted for law and pursued a BA LLB Honours. Thereafter, I received a pre-placement at a company where I handled corporate commercial disputes. I worked there for a year or two, and then I joined a litigation firm and worked there for a few years. Now, I have my practice.
How did your time at school shape your personality and confidence?
I attended this school from nursery and often bragged about studying at one of the top schools in Faridabad. I used to proudly say that Apeejay School was ranked number one. That gave me a lot of confidence. I give a lot of credit to my teachers for shaping me. They gave me confidence in my English and helped me understand the importance of good communication skills.
What school values have you carried forward?
The school was all about values. I remember we used to have a zero period. We were told how to perceive things and how to do better morally and ethically. That encouraged me to be bold and active while also keeping my moral ethics intact.

What should present Apeejayites make the most of while they are in school?
They should make the most of everything the school offers, from activities and classes to teachers and mentors. I also feel students should speak openly with their teachers whenever they face a problem. That kind of support can help them understand themselves better and overcome challenges.
What are some challenges that come with your job?
In this profession, one has to be ready to sacrifice a lot, including time with family and friends. You have to give your time to the work. But after a point, it does pay off.
