Education ministry showcases AI-led reforms at India AI Impact Summit 2026

The Ministry of Education highlighted its vision for AI-driven transformation in the education sector during a special session titled Ministry of Education – Pushing the Frontier of AI in India at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam. Addressing the gathering, the Education Minister described the summit as a landmark initiative aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of accelerating India’s AI growth.
Emphasising the growing role of technology in education, Pradhan noted, “AI in education and education in AI are deeply intertwined.” He encouraged students, researchers, and innovators to leverage AI for learning, empowerment, and the development of transformative solutions.
Minister of State for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Jayant Chaudhary said the summit focused on structured AI integration across foundational learning, skilling, research, and innovation. He added that the ministry’s exhibits demonstrated scalable, India-first AI solutions with practical applications.
The session brought together policymakers, academic leaders, researchers, and industry experts. Among the participants were Dr Sridhar Vembu of Zoho Corporation, Rajan Anandan of Peak XV Partners, and senior representatives from leading IITs.
The ministry highlighted several initiatives undertaken over the past decade to promote AI-enabled education, including national digital platforms, institutional reforms, and capacity-building programmes. It also pointed to the establishment of the Centre of Excellence in AI for Education at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras as a major step toward advancing research and innovation.
The session concluded with a call for stronger collaboration among government, academia, and industry to shape India’s AI-in-education roadmap and strengthen the country’s leadership in the global AI ecosystem.
