For this parent, ensuring that her son, Adhyayan Kumar Attri, who has recently gone into class 1 at Apeejay School in Saket study at this school was a priority. A resident of South Delhi, she had only heard good things about Apeejay, that it was the best school to put your child into if one was looking for strong academic focus and extracurricular activities.

“I have been a teacher for 14-15 years, I recently quit because I wanted to devote my time to my son, and in all those years I never came across negative feedback about Apeejay from any parent. Also, a lot of kids where we live go to this Apeejay branch. Once it was time for Adhyayan to go to school, I knew it had to be this school only,” Sneha Attri said.

Excerpts from an interview.

How did you choose Apeejay School Saket?

I live around the Sainik Farms area and this branch of Apeejay is near to where we live. Everyone around me said that this is the best school since it was a balance of academic as well as co-curricular activities. As a former teacher, I understand the importance of giving a strong foundation to your child. It was a no-brainer that I would choose this school.

How has the learning curve been for your son?

I would say it has been exceptionally brilliant. My son started speaking very late. His first words were ‘ma’am’. Before he joined the school in the nursery, he used to have issues enunciating words properly. You can’t imagine my exuberance when he spoke this word. Since then his progress has been on a steady rise. He even participates in all the events the school organised this last year. He loves to play cricket and dance.

How much credit would you give to the teachers of Apeejay?

I would give the entire credit to them. They were so patient with him at the beginning. They constantly encouraged and motivated him at every step. Each teacher in the last two years has held his hand and guided him. And the change in him has been amazing. He is no longer the same boy who hesitated to speak.

Today, he has become so independent that he does all his schoolwork on his own. I don’t have to guide him or even tell him to do his work.

How is the parent-teacher interaction?

Again it is excellent. Most of the feedback is shared on the group that has been created for parents to share their concerns and feedback. In some ways, PTMs are a mere formality because the teachers have already shared whatever they had to about our children. But it is nice to have face-to-face interaction with the teachers.

What is the best thing about Apeejay?

I would say that the school takes upon itself the responsibility to teach children the core values – discipline and respect for others. As parents, we also do our bit, but this school does as part of its teaching style and philosophy.

Have you recommended Apeejay to other parents?

I have been singing praises about this school to every parent I meet whose child is not studying in Apeejay. A friend of mine was looking for a school for his daughter and I said that this school is best suited since it pays emphasis on academics and extracurricular activities.
