In a competitive world, marks alone will not get you far. Hence, students today are not only brilliant when it comes to academics they are also involved in several activities besides exhibiting human values. Apeejay Education epitomises the very ethos of its motto: Soaring High is My Nature where students are reaching for the sky.

Students of the Apeejay group shine in various domains and progress at different speeds. Acknowledging academic achievement in a wide-ranging manner highlights an array of skills, such as creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration. This broad approach to recognition can elevate self-esteem and motivate students to follow their passions and leverage their strengths ardently.

Meet two such students – Bhavesh Aggarwal and Shaleen Kalra of Apeejay School, Model Town. Not only have these students exhibited excellence in academics, but they have also shown that they are good human beings and are talented as well.

Bhavesh sharing his journey said that he is all set to go in class IX – a milestone class. “I have a disciplined approach to studies. I believe in the importance of self-study, a well-structured timetable, and regular breaks to maintain focus and effectiveness. It is also important to have a balance between academic pursuits and extracurricular activities. Bhavesh said, who also makes it a point to stay away from electronic gadgets, which he believes can hinder cognitive development and affect mental health negatively.

Sharing his aspiration, Bhavesh said that his goal is to become a cardiologist. He stresses the need for determination, focus, and additional study hours, considering the challenging nature of the medical profession. “I also love to play chess and participate in tournaments. I can excel in both academics and sports through careful planning and time management. My teachers and parents have been extremely supportive in my journey thus far,” Bhavesh said.

His advice to other students to be able to be an all-rounder is to be consistent. I am a firm believer that a student who studies every day in small bits can never fail. “If I take my example, I play, watch programmes, sometimes read, and even play chess,” he shared and added that his role model is his uncle, a psychiatrist in the US.

Shaleen on the other hand, who has gone into class IX, says that his teachers and parents have been his role models offering him support and guidance at every step. “My mother has played a crucial role in shaping my approach to learning. From a young age, she encouraged me to be disciplined and ensure that I complete my tasks on time. This method has helped me to study consistently throughout the year and efficiently manage my workload,” he said and shared a unique method that his mother used to ensure that he could retain everything that he learnt.

“From a very young age, she would teach me with the help of flash cards. This helped me retain small bits of information to begin with. As I progressed to higher classes, I was able to retain larger information,” Shaleen recounted and shared his plans.

“I aim to become a Space Engineer. I’m inspired by NASA’s achievements and hope to bring some of their concepts to India’s space efforts. I see myself specialising in Computer Engineering within the space sector, aiming to innovate in spacecraft design and functionality,” Shaleen said.

His ambition took root when he made a drone for a school project and took the help of his father’s students. “It was during this time that I learnt about Space Engineering and its different branches,” Shaleen recalled and shared that he has found that studying consistently over the year and making time for relaxation and play, especially cricket with his friends, helps him manage stress.

“Consistent study and staying on top of my daily tasks have significantly reduced my exam anxiety. I believe even an hour of focused study each day can make a huge difference, helping to keep exam stress at bay and improve overall performance,” Shaleen said in conclusion.
