This young poetess writes a chirpy heartfelt poem for her elder sister

Words like bromance and brotherhood are common vocabulary among the youth of the nation. A new word added to this list is ‘bhaiship’. But what’s the word to express a similar unshakable bond between sisters? I bet even most girls don’t know this? 

It is sorority! At what age did you start writing poetry?

I started writing at the age of six. I simply love poems. It feels so amazing when I complete a poem.

What inspired you for this?

My elder sister Nadaa. She also writes poems and I used to recite them in my online classes during lockdown. That is how I developed interest in writing poems myself.

Wow, that’s quite a lovely sorority! Did this inspire the poem My elder sister?

Yes, the answer is my elder sister again. She is everything that I have described in my poem. I wanted to dedicate this poem to her. I love her a lot.

Who is your favourite poet and what is your favourite poem?

A teacher for all seasons by Joanna Fuchs is my all-time favourite poem. I have recited it many times on different occasions.

The all-time poet’s question: Rhyme or free verse?

Always rhyme verse.

Writing poems in the day or night?

Night time! It is so peaceful – the quiet enhances the concentration.

How does your school help you to write such lovely poems?

The teachers at Apeejay School, Nerul always encourage students to follow their interests. The school magazine and morning assembly gives us, students, a chance to showcase our talent. I thank my school a lot.

How do you approach writing a poem? How much time does it take you to complete a poem?

I first decide on the topic of the poem and then create a rough text. Then I complete the rest of the poem over 3-4 days. I usually write on themes such as family and nature.

Finally, the best thing about writing poetry for you is?

The fact that I can express my feelings beautifully. I have had the habit of writing since a very young age and poetry writing improves my writing abilities.
