Jalandhar-based college equips students with vital communication and soft skills

Apeejay College of Fine Arts organised free skill enhancement certificate courses

As part of the ongoing Skill Enhancement Courses, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar, recently conducted a session on Communicative English and Soft Skills tailored specifically for class 12 students. Open to students from various schools in and around the city, this initiative aimed to equip participants with essential communication skills and soft skills crucial for their personal and professional development.

Led by Ms. Jaspreet Kaur and Ms. Pallak Saini from the Department of English, the course emphasised the significance of both verbal and non-verbal communication. Through a diverse range of engaging activities such as Pictionary, spell bee, extempore speaking, 2-minute monologues, and scrabble for word building, students were immersed in practical exercises designed to enhance their communication abilities.

Moreover, the curriculum encompassed essential life skills, including calling and messaging etiquettes, email and resume writing, and strategies for acing interviews. The hands-on approach of the classes encouraged active participation, fostering a conducive environment for students to express themselves confidently before an audience.

Feedback from the participants echoed a sentiment of enjoyment and enrichment, with many describing the classes as a fun and productive way to spend their vacation period. The opportunity to explore the vibrant campus of Apeejay College, replete with state-of-the-art infrastructure, further added to the students’ overall experience.

Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, emphasised the importance of such skill enhancement initiatives in shaping the future of the nation. She highlighted the significance of guiding the youth and providing them with opportunities to explore various educational avenues while making productive use of their free time.

By offering these classes free of cost, the college not only demonstrated its commitment to nurturing talent but also underscored the value of accessible education. As the participants departed with newfound skills and confidence, they carried with them the seeds of personal growth and success, poised to make a meaningful impact in their academic and professional endeavours.
