Chandrajeet Dhara , third-year B. Tech Biotechnology student, at School of Biosciences, Apeejay Stya University is very passionate about learning new research in the nanobiotechnology domain. His research interest lies in the development of nano-carriers, nanomedicine, and enzyme based biosensors. These interests encouraged him to participate in the Poster Presentation competition at the 4th National Seminar on Nanomedicine and Medical Devices in Healthcare, organised by School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPS) and funded by Haryana-The Directorate of Science and Technology. The Apeejay student secured 2nd position in this competition Poster Presentation.

In a candid interview, Chandrajeet explains the concept behind his poster presentation as well as his learnings from this participation. Read edited excerpts:

What was the concept of your poster and what message did you convey

My concept of the research was to deliver the potential of Kraft Lignin based Silver Nanoparticles as a versatile tool for nano-engraved drug delivery systems. In this research, I have talked about the encapsulation of Doxorubicin, an anti-cancerous drug, with the kraft lignin silver nanoparticles, and how the drug can be administered in the human body. I also studied its efficacy.

How did you prepare for the competition? How did you ideate the design?

I took help from my mentor Dr. Saroj Kumar and got immense support and guidance from my Dean Dr. Vyas M. Shingatgeri. With their support and guidance, I prepared myself for the poster presentation. I read several research publications and books and that gave me the idea to work on this topic and currently I’m working on this project with more curiosity.

What has been your learning from such major event like National Seminar on Nanomedicine and medical devices in Healthcare

The major learning from the seminars of this magnitude is that I, as a budding researcher, get a way of how I should move forward in this particular domain, getting valuable research insights from experts coming from different prestigious institutions like NII, New Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi , etc.

What is your aspiration next after completing your graduation from Apeejay Stya University?

I want to pursue M. Tech and then Ph.D in my research domain of interest. I am already working in that direction.
