Meet Deepak Goswami, who is working with an advertising and PR agency.

“I’m dedicated to exceeding expectations and achieving customer excellence with every project,” Goswami, who is a 2020-2022 batch who pursued an MBA in Marketing/HR, said.

Excerpts from the interview.

Where are you currently working?

I am at present working at Sevenfold Communications in Delhi. It is an advertising and PR agency. Initially, I began my professional journey by working with a bank but within a couple of months I realised this was not where my forte or interest lay; I was more interested in advertising and media.

What is the best part of working in the advertising and PR sector?

You get to learn and gain knowledge about so many different aspects of this sector. There are so many new creative ideas that you are bombarded with and how you are going to pitch an idea and curate a campaign around it. The kind of work that I do requires creative thinking and management. While the latter is easy, the former requires a bit of work. The best part is the constant exposure to new ideas and the necessity for creative thinking, especially in crafting campaigns. It’s both the most rewarding and challenging aspect of the job.

How is AI being integrated into your work at the advertising agency?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly streamlined our workflow, reducing tasks that took hours to just minutes, thus allowing us more time for creative thinking and idea generation. We use AI for various tasks, including generating images and logos. For example, some tasks required us to spend three to four hours a day completing them. Today, with AI, we can do them in less than 10 minutes, freeing a lot of time to work on the creative aspect of our work. We also use AI when we get stuck for ideation. We use Mid Journey to make billboards; Adobe is used to generate logos to name a few creatives.

Could you share some memories from your ASM days?

I am from the 2020-2022 batch. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, my final semester was memorable. This was the time when I attended the college on campus. I never realised that I would enjoy this short time at the campus. Despite the limited time, I managed to make several friends, some of whom I am still in touch with; in fact, we are roommates.

How was the faculty?

The faculty was great, though online classes posed some challenges in terms of interaction compared to offline classes. It was then that I realised how good they were once the classes shifted offline. I got to learn so many things when I attended the classes physically.

What are the challenges of working in your field?

Ours is a fast-paced sector. You have to think on your toes; you don’t get time to think and ponder over it. As a creative person, there are times when you have to take a call then and there. There is no scope for error in my line of work. A single mistake can ruin the entire campaign or even the name of the brand.

Would you recommend this institute?

Yes, definitely. The institute has great faculty and I got to learn several things. I also got campus placement and worked with ICICI Bank. Unfortunately, no company came to the campus that solely deals in marketing had that happened I would have probably found my niche much earlier. But other than that, ASM is a great learning place.
