This Delhi school takes a new step towards child’s overall development

Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, organises bagless days for primary students

The New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 highlights the need for initiatives such as bagless day, vocational courses and vocational crafts for holistic development. Also, the Ministry of Education rolled out a new School Bag Policy for 2020 in which it is stated that the school bag weight for students should weigh 10% of their body weight. As per various surveys, heavy school bags are a serious threat to the health and wellbeing of the students.

Thus, in-line with the above-mentioned thought, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, recently organised three bagless days for the students of primary wing to emphasise learning by doing and letting children explore their hidden talent.

During the bagless days, students enjoyed various fun-filled activities like sports, watching movies, dance, music-vocal and instrumental, art and craft and many more.

The students enthusiastically participated in all the activities. However, these activities not only made them active and alert, but also enhanced their skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making and creative thinking.

While expressing her views, Shweta Oberoi, Primary Incharge said, “In a bid to reduce pressure on children and to let them explore their hidden talent, Apeejay School Panchsheel Park organised a 3-day bagless day. Children have participated in activities like dance, music, art and craft, tye and die, vegetable painting, movie, short tennis and sports activities. The kids were so happy and have enjoyed the bagless days to the fullest.”
