If you, as a parent, are on the journey of selecting an appropriate school for your child, then you must know that a school should be able to provide a comfortable environment. This not only allows a student to be at more ease but also helps him/her to be open to learning. But schools like Apeejay stand put. They not only offer the best education but also provide the students a feeling of home away from home, says Kusum Jaiswal, mother of Maanya Jaiswal studying in Class X at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg.

Excerpts from the interview.

How has been her experience at this school so far?

My daughter’s journey has been remarkable. It has been marked by consistent progress and notable improvement over the years. She loves going to the school. Moreover, I can witness the overall development which has been a gratifying experience so far.

What about extracurricular activities?

Maanya engages in different types of extracurricular activities, whether it be at school or home. She has been conferred as the Best NCC Cadet. She actively participates in other activities like dance, basketball, and yoga to name a few.

What’s your parenting mantra?

I aspire for my child to thrive not only academically but also engage in extracurricular activities as well. It’s important for me that her involvement is driven by genuine interest rather than forced participation. As a parent, I know that forcing your child does not help. What the children need is the parents‘ support.

How do you manage her phobia for upcoming boards?

I manage her routine and have created a timetable that includes collaborative study sessions. There are times when the pre-exam preparations cause anxiety that is closely associated with syllabus completion. Moreso, since my daughter is in class X. While maintaining a familiar approach from previous classes, this year also I have supported her while focusing more on the written assignments.

Does she study by herself or do you help her?

Although Maanya believes in self-study I keep a  check on her study routine. I guide her from time to time — whenever she needs my help.

How do you help her use the limit with mobile phone?

In today’s world, children need to grasp the importance of how to balance the use of technology and their routine which includes study time. While acknowledging the importance of technology in accessing study materials, I tell my daughter to maintain a mindful balance.

What are her favourite subjects?

She loves to study Science, especially Physics and Chemistry. She will probably build her career in this stream, at the non-medical level.

What do you appreciate the most about this school?

The comfort level this school provides is truly unmatchable. I hold immense trust and confidence in the teachers. The way I am the parent to my child at home, the teachers are the same in the school. They are brilliant guiding hands, providing unwavering support in my child’s educational journey.
