Parampreet Kaur, a homemaker, enrolled her daughters Gurleen and Belwin Kaur in Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, in the last academic year. They are now in classes VIII and XII. In an interview, she tells us why she chose Apeejay and what the experience has been like so far.

Edited excerpts:

What made you pick Apeejay School, Rama Mandi for your daughters?

Born and brought up in Jalandhar, I knew about Apeejay’s excellent reputation. So, when I came back to my hometown after a gap of 18 years—as I moved cities owing to my husband, who is a defense personnel—I decided to enroll my daughters in this school. My family friends’ children are also studying in Apeejay, so that gave me more confidence.

How helpful have the teachers at Apeejay been?

The teachers are very good. Whenever I give my feedback, they not only take it positively but also act on it. I am very happy and satisfied with the way they support students and parents. I always attend parent-teacher meetings, which are very helpful. I am also a part of the parent-teacher association.

Coming to the classes, I am very satisfied with the progress I am seeing in my daughters. Now that Gurleen is in class XII, the teachers are very serious about their future and are preparing them well. Belwin’s teachers are equally motivating and encouraging towards children.

What progress are you noticing in your daughters?

Belwin had not learnt Punjabi before joining Apeejay; she was introduced to the subject last year. And I am proud to say that she not only learnt it beautifully but also topped her class in the subject, all thanks to her teacher! It is with her support that my daughter successfully learned the basics and covered the entire syllabus in just half a year.

Gurleen, on the other hand, takes some time to adjust to a new environment. But with the help of her teachers and peers, she has settled down now and is focusing on her studies. She is in the medical stream.

What about extracurricular activities?

Be it interschool or inter-house competitions or any other event, Belwin is always enthusiastic about participating in it all. But she takes maximum interest in sports, especially hockey. Such events shape a child’s personality and lead to their holistic development. My daughters are very happy with the school.
