Deepa Arora, kindergarten teacher, SLS DAV Public School, Mausam Vihar, Delhi, says she has seen a “tremendous” change in her son Kabir’s personality ever since he joined Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park. The nursery student, who started attending offline classes last month, enjoys his time at the school campus, says the mother. In an interview, Deepa tells us about the school’s seamless learning process, the improvements she has observed in her son, and more. Edited excerpts:

What encouraged you to enroll your son in Apeejay Panchsheel Park?

Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, has a very good reputation, especially in academics. While Kabir got shortlisted in a lot of schools in South Delhi, we found Apeejay to be the best among them.

Did you visit the school before your son’s admission?

One of my colleagues, whose child is also studying in the same school, gave me very good feedback about the infrastructure. We saw the school campus at the time of admission itself.

As a kindergarten teacher yourself, what is your opinion about the pedagogy at Apeejay?

My son started formal school with online classes. In fact, he did not even have any prior experience of a play school. My apprehensions were put to rest when I saw how the teachers interacted with all the students in the virtual mode. The teaching-learning process is easy, fun, and seamless. Although my son is too young, he enjoyed the online classes thoroughly. I am very impressed with the school.

How do the teachers ensure your son, among other students, pays attention in class?

My son’s teacher Meenakshi Soni ma’am gives individual attention to the students—she interacts with all of them. What I like the most is how they teach through stories and rhymes which piques children’s interest in learning.

What kind of improvements have you noticed in Kabir since he joined school?

Kabir can now read a complete storybook all by himself, which is an exceptional achievement for a child who is just in nursery. The credit goes to the curriculum which helps children grasp reading and writing skills faster. In fact, my son also compèred an event recently, which goes to show his confidence levels. He won a lot of appreciation from the school principal and his teachers. I have seen a tremendous change in my child’s personality in terms of his communication skills, reading and writing skills, and more. My acquaintances often wonder which school my child is studying in and I can proudly tell them it is Apeejay.

Has he started going to the school campus again?

Kabir started going physically to school last month. He finds it to be a lot of fun and is always eager to spend time with his friends and teachers. Once he comes home, he is excited to share with me all that he has done in school.
