Arvind Bansal, Judicial Officer, Delhi District Courts, says his decision to enroll son Aarush in Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, GK, was the result of a “pleasant accident”. Satisfied with the experience, Arvind and his wife Charu Gupta, Judicial Officer, Delhi District Courts, later moved him to Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park. Their younger daughter Rithanya is also studying in the school now. In an interview, the parents talk about how the school helped their kids become confident. Edited excerpts:
What made you pick Apeejay?
Arvind: My son Aarush’s journey at Apeejay started with Rhythms Kinderworld, Greater Kailash. We were looking for a school that would cater to the issues that we were initially facing with our child. Aarush was a picky eater and was not properly toilet trained. We came across Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld by chance—it falls on the way to our son’s grandmother’s house. We thought of approaching the school principal to know more about their pedagogy. On our very first meeting, we were highly impressed with what the institution was offering in terms of its infrastructure and curriculum. We immediately transferred him from a regular playschool to Apeejay, and it turned out to be a successful experiment.
Now, Aarush is in Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, in class 4. Our younger daughter Rithanya is in class KG in the same school.
Did Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld help resolve the issues you were facing with Aarush as a toddler?
Arvind: The initial issues that a toddler usually faces got resolved in the very first month of entering Apeejay. That is what we were most happy about.
Charu: Our son seemed very happy during his time at Rhythms Kinderworld. He loved going to school.
Would you say it happened because of teachers’ individual attention to students?
Arvind: Of course! In fact, this is the best thing about Apeejay. The personalised attention of the teacher helped in my son’s growth. The number of students per teacher was less which enabled the faculty to devote more time to each child. Aarush showed remarkable improvement in every aspect.
Do you find the same happening at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, too?
Arvind: Our experience at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld was so good that we never thought of any other school other than Apeejay to continue our son’s education. I would say our decision was absolutely right. So, we also enrolled our daughter there.
How has Apeejay Panchsheel Park lived up to your expectations?
Arvind: When it comes to schooling, Apeejay lives up to its own motto of “soaring high”. The school has given every possible opportunity to Aarush to participate in every kind of activity.
Charu: Apeejay does not just emphasise theoretical learning. They also focus on value-based learning and experiential learning. Since class 1, our son has been participating in the Spell Bee competition and has also reached the international level.
Arvind: Aarush has not only developed intellectually but in all aspects of his personality. He has turned into a very interactive and confident child.
What do you think of the learning methods used in Apeejay, from audio-visual aid to activity-based classes?
Arvind: Prior to the pandemic, the students were made to do several experiments. Similarly, in the online classes, Apeejay introduced the concept of art-integrated learning wherein the child has to prepare an art-based project on each subject every month. This helps the child to gain both theoretical and practical learning. The teachers have worked very hard to make the children understand every concept thoroughly. The audio-visual mode of learning has helped create a sense of curiosity in children to learn more. Aarush has picked up things very fast and smoothly. Even during the online classes, we never felt that his growth was getting hampered in any way.
Charu: Our daughter started formal schooling with online classes. So far, we have noticed substantial progress in her. Her class teacher is exceptionally good. Apart from developing our daughter’s interest in academics, the teachers have also boosted her confidence through participation in various activities. She is one of the good speakers in her class now.
How is Apeejay inculcating human values in your children?
Arvind: Apeejay celebrates each and every festival of the country. Second, it makes every child participate in those festivities, which has made them understand religious and cultural diversity better.
Charu: Aarush has become a lot more responsible now. Initially, we were a little apprehensive about whether he would be willing to share his parents’ love and affection with his younger sibling. But he very smoothly accepted the fact and displayed love and care for her.
Now that schools have reopened, have your kids returned to the campus?
Charu: Aarush was very excited to go back to school and meet his friends and teachers. Rithanya has also started going to school and she feels quite comfortable in that environment. In fact, she gets very upset if she has to miss school some day.
